Invoice Generator
Type in who the invoice is from and to, add what you are charging for, and the page builds the invoice as you type. When it looks right, print it or save it as a PDF.
There is no account, no watermark and no limit. Nothing you type leaves your device.
Please note: This tool lays out an invoice and does the sums. It is not legal or tax advice. Requirements for invoices and sales tax differ by place, so check your own rules.
How it works
Each line has a description, a quantity and a price. The line total is the quantity times the price. The subtotal is the sum of all lines.
A discount can be a percent or a fixed amount. It comes off the subtotal first. Tax is then figured on what is left, using the percent you enter. The total is that amount plus the tax. Every figure is rounded to the cent line by line, the way an accountant would check it.
The due date comes from the issue date and the payment terms you pick, such as 30 days. “Due on receipt” puts the due date on the issue date. The invoice number is yours to choose. Many people use a pattern like INV-0001 and count up so no number repeats.
To save a PDF, press “Print or save as PDF” and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in the dialog that opens. Only the invoice is printed, not the form around it.
Your details are not stored, so if you reload the page the form will be empty. Keep a copy of the PDF for your records.
line = quantity × price
subtotal = sum of lines
discount = subtotal × percent (or a fixed amount)
tax = (subtotal − discount) × tax rate
total = subtotal − discount + taxWorked example: A small web design job
Web design, 10 hours at $75 = $750. Hosting, 1 at $120 = $120. The subtotal is $870.
With a 10% discount of $87 the taxable amount is $783. Sales tax at 8.25% is $64.60. The total due is $847.60.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on invoices. The site is paid for by ads.
Is my information saved or sent anywhere?
No. The invoice is built in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, so keep your own copy of each invoice.
What should an invoice include?
Your name and contact details, the client’s name, a unique invoice number, the issue and due dates, a clear list of what was sold with prices, any tax, the total and how to pay. Some places require extra items, like a tax ID.
Do I have to charge sales tax?
It depends on what you sell and where you and your client are. Check with your state or country’s tax office or an accountant. This tool only does the sum.
Can I use another currency?
Yes. Pick one from the list. The amounts are formatted for that currency.
How do I number invoices?
Use any pattern that never repeats. Counting up, like INV-0001, INV-0002, is the simplest. The “next number” button adds one for you.
